The 2024 Woodford Legends Invitational

The Woodford Legends Invitational 2024

The week full of events was a hit throughout central Kentucky. With players coming from all different parts of the world, the field was talented and unique. The Legends of the LPGA shared the green with some of Kentucky’s best women amateurs, inspiring generations to come.

Starting with The Nashville Songwriters Night, music and golf fans alike walked on the course to enjoy live music and entertainment. Our musical guests included Grammy Award winning songwriters Tim Nichols, Wynn Varble, and Kelley Lovelace. They’ve written world-renowned songs sang by your favorite artists. The crowd sang along as they played smash hits like “Live Like You Were Dying” and “Try That in a Small Town.”But that’s not all, they also told the stories behind the hits. Our guests experienced an intimate setting, learning more about what their favorite song really means.

Not only were these songwriters world class, but the night also helped The Woodford Club Foundation raise more than $8,000. Thanks to Oak & Moore, their beautiful barrel heads engraved with song lyrics and signed by the songwriters were auctioned off at the event.

Day two kicked off with Women Leading Kentucky’s Luncheon. People from all over central Kentucky came to an insightful golf lesson to start the day, learning from pros and other great golfers. The event titled “Swing into Wellness” was insightful for many in attendance. Joined by Kentucky’s Lt. Governor Jaqueline Coleman, our guests heard powerful stories about strength and resilience.

A panel discussion was led by three courageous women; retired heart surgeon Dr. Pamela Roberts, owner of True North Counseling & Development, Dr. Janelle McNeal, and Plan Performance Medical Director for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kentucky, Lori Caloia. The networking session and engaging panel made for a perfect day of wellness.

Our Legends Pro-Am was stacked with amazing sponsors and talented players. Each group of four was joined by one of the 28 Legends of the LPGA. Spending time one-on-one with some of the world’s greatest golfers was a once in a lifetime experience. Guests boasted about the experience, and the pros described their groups as some of the most fun people they’ve ever played with. The daylong event included a great lunch from The Woodford Club, and ice cold drinks.

The day was rounded out with awards, hors d'oeuvres, drinks, and live music. It was a perfect way to get to know your teammates, and prepare for the fun and competitive tournament!

The two-day, 36 hole tournament was a competitive and fun environment for all of our golfers and guests. With Kentucky legends like Nancy Scranton, and overseas players such as Laura Davies, fans got to see all different styles of play by the best to ever do it. With several ups and downs throughout the days, Catriona Matthew and Becky Morgan went home champions. The amateur winners included EKU golf team member Claira Beth Ramsey and UK golfer Laney Frye.

Fans watched from hole 18, at the edge of their seats, as Matthew and Morgan finished with a three shot victory. While they might not have had time this year, they plan to come back next year to enjoy some Kentucky Bourbon!

The Woodford Legends Invitational 2025 will be on June 6 & 7.

Thank You 2024 Sponsors!
